This Anger Management Mini Unit is a week-long unit that helps your students learn to recognize their own triggers, how anger feels in their body, and strategies on how to work through the anger.
This resource gives you everything you need to explicitly teach students how to manage their anger in short, meaningful lessons your students will actually enjoy. Each day builds on the last, helping kids recognize when they start to become angry and what to do.
Anger Management Mini Unit Outline
DAY ONE: Noticing Anger in the Body
- Social Narrative (incudes Google slides, color PDF, and BW take home story)
- Classroom Poster
- Activity to help students notice how their body feels when they get angry
DAY TWO: Naming Anger
- Students learn an anger scale to learn the difference between being annoyed, frustrated, angry and furious
- Scenario cards to practice I statements
- Classroom Poster
DAY THREE: Understanding Triggers
- Social Narrative (incudes Google slides, color PDF, and BW take home story)
- Activity to identify their own triggers
DAY FOUR: Cooling Down
- Student learn a variety of strategies to use when they become angry
DAY FIVE: My Anger Plan: Putting it all together
- Activity for students to practice real life scenarios they experience and how to manage their anger
Each day comes with a detailed lesson plan with learning targets, guiding questions, and step by step instructions.
